Could a media system, controlled by a few global corporations with the ability to overwhelm all competing voices, be able to turn lies into truth?

We no longer are a democracy in the United States. Instead we have turned into a mediaocracy. Outright lies now pass as truths on a day to day basis by network news and the government or ruling elite. The media system controlled by global corporations are not answerable to the people. Only the politicians can control or regulate them! Corporations buy politicians with campaign contributions so that competing voices can be forced into silence. Thus, only one voice and truth is heard by the people.
